Bettylou Sakura Johnson is one of the world’s most talented up-and-coming surfers. When she isn’t surfing her homebreak of Hale’iwa, you will find her at Pipe and Backdoor in search of the perfect barrel.

Boasting an already impressive list of wins, including  the Papara Pro Open Tahiti in 2020, Sakura is just beginning her career.

Q&A WITH SAKURA:

Favorite place? France but I would like to go to the Maldives.

Best moment in my career? When I competed for the Fresh Water Pro as a wildcard.

Favorite things to do when I am not surfing? I just love to go hiking/fishing/dirt biking just being in nature or hanging out with my friends ;)

Fashion essentials? I love being in bikinis! and is a shoe lover!

Favorite moment with Roxy? When I went to Maui in 2018 for the women’s last comp of the year. Stephanie Gilmore won her 7th world title. It was such a special moment for her and just to be there and watch it all happen. I’m truly super thankful that I was able to go.
